    I will say I was not a big fan of ryobi but slowly I been adding more ryobi tools in my bag. Personally for me I don’t agree with the brushless line but the brushed line is on point on price and how reliable they are.

    731 woodworks feels like a sell out now. He's very affiliated with everything now. I can't bash 731 woodworks too much, because he's building more than just wood projects. He's making a life sustaining business. I'm mostly envious. But on the other hand, he still feels like that. I would love to find a good niche to build something like he has. Props 731.

    • @731Woodworks

      Brass won't damage carbide becasue brass is a "soft" metal. Steel brushes are harder and therefore could damage the carbide on the blade.

    oh come on now, the "blade cleaner" is a bit of overkill (and expense/waste of space). Just use the lid of a 5-gal bucket and let it soak a bit, if needed scrub lightly with a “scotchbright” pad from the Dollar Store, then dry it off. I guess put some work gloves on if you are concerned about cutting yourself. So a dollar and stuff you have laying around instead of whatever this costs and the space to store it.

    People give craftsman tools a lot of smack but there are some of there tools that are top notch. The V20 line of cordless tools has come along nicely since SBD took over. Especially the 18ga nailers, cutoff tools, and brushless drill/impact. The nailers are exactly same as dewalt at usually half the price.

    A little tip for those that put their cars in the same garage as their wood, don't put your car soaking wet, as the water on the car will evaporate and make the air inside damp. Especially at low temperatures wood will get wet and mould. Leave the car to dry outside and when dry put it in the garage.

    This government induced controversy is typical of the mentality of the government - "I'm from the government & I'm here to help (or protect." The feds have zero interest in affordability. A companion example is in the push to change over to electric vehicles vs. fossil fuel powered vehicles.

    All the Chinesium (metal) you can shake a stick at. With a few things that don't suck. lol. Absolutely second the advice to avoid the drill bits. Won't even drill out a simple lock - just spins and refuses to cut. That said, some things to get are their jack stands and floor jacks which are apparently built in the same factory as Snap-On. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about their drivers and torque wrenches, which are like throwing crap at a wall and hoping it will stick. My dad has some old Japanese sockets that survived nearly 20 years of electrical and construction work and the Harbor freight lasted me.. about 5 jobs. Having a driver break or a socket strip itself out ( as opposed to the nut ) is your entire afternoon coming to a stop while you go get a replacement. Same with their breaker bars, tire wrenches, and so on - anything you put torque on will eventually deform or bend as the metal is not up to the spec ( factories in China lying... who'd have guessed? ) So, things like shop gloves, lights, clamps, wheel chocks, etc.. all good. The rest.. shop carefully.

    I own two older Makita tools that I have used a lot. My experience with them shows me that Makita does not give nearly enough thought to the design of their tools. I won't buy any more of their products. This review shows that they have changed and give more thought to their product designs, but I will still not buy anything from them.

  • @scottbyrd2157
    @scottbyrd2157 День тому

    Matt, I wanna add some food for thought about rust on table saws. After sawing some lumber on mine recently I did not clean it and was totally covered. The next day I come in and every spot that had larger chunks of saw dust on the table had rusted. Not realizing that the wood had moisture in it(as it was decking boards I ripped down) which caused the rust spots. Needless to say I learned my lesson. Just thought I’d point that out as something simple as wood chips can cause rust!!

    You are exactly right. Ryobi is a good choice for the homeowner/diy market. As such, these tools don't get the frequent use of the expensive brands. With promotions, you can get batteries about half price, or get a free tool with a special on two batteries. I became acquainted with Ryobi about 18 years ago. I wanted to get away from gas powered grass trimmers and saw the Ryobi 24 volt trimmer for $140 in HD. That was a good investment. After 8 years, the motor wore out, having been used on a large property. Ryobi had a replacement motor for $20. I used the trimmer another 4 years, retired it, and bought a new Ryobi 18 volt trimmer (the 24 volt batteries were way too expensive. The new 18 volt trimmer was lighter and batteries were less expensive. Ah, why should I use a broom to sweep off the walk now? A Ryobi blower was enticing especially using the same battery system. One thing led to another and now I have numerous 18+One tools and enough batteries to not run short. On my property it is so convenient to no longer stretch an electric cord out for simple jobs. I was a Craftsman fan until the name was "licensed" to SBD and quality went down. However, Ryobi makes products that Craftsman didn't have.

    I went with the corded Makita track saw a couple of months ago. It is a fantastic saw, cuts smoothly, easy to set the depth of cut and not too noisy. The case/box is very useful as well, stores the saw with plenty of spare space. It also good as a small stool to sit on when working on low projects.

    Sorry but the Gripper is one of the most hyped but unnecessary gizmos on UA-cam. It’s expensive, fiddly to set up and completely replaceable by any number of homemade push sticks. You UA-cam woodworkers are constantly hawking this thing, I’m not buying it.
